Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo has expressed the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello to reposition all State-owned radio stations for effective information dissemination and citizens engagement.
Fanwo disclosed this at Ochaja while on facility inspection at Confluence Radio Booster Station, 90.5 FM. He commended the staff of the station for their commitment to work and “unparalleled dedication”, assuring them of Government’s commitment to their welfare.
“What I have seen here is unparalleled. The management and staff have shown commitment and dedication. We have seen what is on ground here and we are determined to build on what is on ground.
“The Ministry will look into how to improve on your working condition here. During our phone in program on radio this morning, we were able to see how important this radio station is to Kogi East and the entire South Eastern part of Nigeria. We will not miss the opportunity to shine with the coverage offered by this radio station”.
Also at the Palace of His Royal Highness Mallam Musa Yahaya, Omachi Attah Onu Ochaja, the Commissioner commended the Royal Father and the entire people of Ochaja for their support to the radio station over the years.
His words: “This is patriotism at a different level. On behalf of His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello, I want to thank the Royal Father and the people of Ochaja for being a wonderful host.
“His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello sees the traditional institution as a veritable partnership towards attaining peace and citizens mobilization for development. What Your Royal Highness has demonstrated here is a confirmation of the wisdom of the Governor in keeping faith with our traditional institutions”.
In his reaction, His Royal Highness, Mallam Musa Yahaya said the Hon. Commissioner was the first to visit his palace, saying the community will continue to support the radio station.
“Hon. Commissioner, I must confess that your humility is great. You are the first Commissioner to visit this Palace. We want you to help us uplift this station and the name of the Governor will be written in gold in Igalaland”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the Station Manager of 90.5 FM, Mrs Anyaja John thanked the Commissioner for visiting the station to have a first hand knowledge of their challenges, expressing confidence that the coming of the Commissioner will signal a new era for the radio station.
