Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources in Kogi State, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed has advised holders of Mining Licences in the State to use them judiciously or risk losing them to serious investors ready to sink their resources in the sector.

He made the call during a Stakeholders Meeting he held on Tuesday with interest groups in the sector from Yagba East and West of the State where he assured them of the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello administration to give serious ones among them the necessary support to succeed.

The Commissioner said the current Kogi State Government is prepared to ensure it utilised the economic potentials of the state for the benefits of all its citizens, hence the determination of the Governor to ensure miners do their bit in that regard.

Engr Bashir urged the people to assist the government in bringing the menace of illegal mining to an end as it has caused a lot of damages to the environment and cost government important revenue that would contribute to positive development.

He said his office would remain open for useful advice and guidance from members of the public, saying that the administration is a listening one and is ready to work closely with any group or individual in areas that would bring socioeconomic turnaround for Kogi State.

He used the occasion to pay homage to the Chairman, Yagba West Traditional Council and Elegbe of Egbe land, Oba Ayodele Irukera and the Chairman Yagba East Traditional Council and Agbana of Isanlu, Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi where he received their Royal Blessings.

The Commissioner had on his entourage Mr David Alonge who is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and the Director of Mineral Resources, Mrs Onimode.
