The administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has taken upon itself to transform the entire Kogi State Street lighting system from the inherited analog to digital.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar S. Ohere made this known yesterday in Lokoja while receiving House Committee on Works, Housing and Infrastructure from Kogi State House of Assembly.
According to him, the visit was to perform their oversight function on infrastructural development in the State with special interest on the street lighting system in Lokoja metropolis.
The Commissioner noted that the measure taken by the State Government on street lighting system will relief the State the problems of metering, Transformer and power supply. Thistle he said is due to transformation agenda of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in providing Solar Power system of lighting streets in the State.
On the issue of infrastructural development in the State, the Commissioner maintained that, the provision of infrastructure is one out of the thematic areas of the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, stressing that the determination to sustain the drive with the available resources is very high.
He further revealed that all the ongoing projects including the ones in the Works and Housing sector are being programmed for completion and Commissioning in a no distant time.
Earlier, the Chairman House Committee on Works and Housing Honourable Seidu Amodu, House member representing Ofu Constituency expressed satisfaction on the report given by the Honourable Commissioner, Works and Housing.
He also assured that with the presence of Engr Ohere in this Ministry dividends of democracy was sure.
The committee chairman urged the ministry to be fully committed to the operation Zero Pothole of His Excellency in order to bring more dividends of democracy to the people of the State
In a closing remark, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry TPL. Ramatu Baba thanked the committee members for taking their time to visit the Ministry with a view to bringing dividends of democracy to the people of the State.
She also maintained that if this engagement is sustained it will go a long way in changing the narratives.
