Arrangements have been concluded by Kogi SUBEB to train 300 Early Child Care Development Education Teachers /Care Givers for the 2016 Teacher Professional Development programme.
The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ndalayi stated this Monday while briefing Journalists on the Board’s preparedness in his office in Lokoja.
Comrade Abdullahi said the “ECCDE is critical to the success of the UBE programme such that it combines elements from the areas of infant stimulation, health and nutrition, early childhood education, psychology, sociology, child development and economics among others” .
“According to the Executive Chairman, the theme ” Reggio Emilia Approach /Curriculum Development” is a methodology adopted from Italy that has significantly enhanced teaching and learning outcomes in their schools “.
He expressed hope that the” Reggio Emilia approach ” will boost teachers confidence in the classroom as well as enhance child enrollment which was put at 15,723 with 7, 815 male child and 7,913 female child in the 2018 National Personnel Audit report.
Addressing participants at the UBE JSS Holy Trinity Lokoja, the acting Director School Services, Prince Wada Drisu said the 300 ECCDE teachers/Care Givers are grouped into two centres: Participants from West /Central would have their training programme at UBE JSS, Holy Trinity Lokoja, from 10th – 14th February, 2020.
Adding that participants from the East would have their turn at CMML Primary School, Ayingba from 17th – 21st February, 2020.
