Kogi State Government has assured the people of the State of her commitment to the provision ferries shuttle services as part of her effort to develop the water transport system in the State.
The newly appointed Commissioner for the Ministry of Transportation, Hon. Joseph Baron Okwoli gave this hint in a meeting with the management of the Ministry when he assumed office.
Hon Okwoli who said that waterways will be cardinal point for the New Direction Government in this second tenure, stressed the need to decongest traffic in Lokoja metropolis.
He further stated that, waterways is an easier and saver means of transportation which will in turn boost tourism and generate revenue for the State.
The Commissioner promised a robust working relationship and an improved welfare package for staff of the Ministry.
Earlier in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Benjamin Ibrahim pledged the corporation of staff to attain the desired goals of this present Government.
The Permanent Secretary then highlighted some of the challenges of the Ministry to lack of operational vehicles for both the ministry, Confluence Express and lack of funds for the smooth running of the Ministry.
