Kogi State Government is set to roll out developmental activities that would boost the welfare of the people of the State.
This was revealed by the Honorable Commissioner of Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar S. Ohere while briefing news men in Lokoja.
Engr. Ohere noted that infrastructural development is one of the key focus of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration adding that it will be used to cushion the adverse effects of Covid-19 Pandemic.
To set the ball rolling, the Ministry of Work and Housing has commenced the rehabilitation of Kpata Market-Marine road which was threatened by Erosion.
The Commissioner further revealed that the road to mount Patti has also received attention in a bid to open up the place to tourism related activities, this he said would be geared towards revenue generation for the State and total economic improvement for the government.
Speaking on the projects for urgent attention, the Commissioner said resumption of works will commence on Ekirin-Adde/Ohun Iffe – Olukontu road and the rehabilitation of Ponyan/Jege/Ejuku/Ijowa (Insanlu) road project.
He further added that the State government would flag off construction of township roads in Okene immediately. He also affirmed that work shall be resumed on Idah-Ajaka-Umomi-Anyigba road for the completion of ongoing projects.
The housing sector is not left out as government is set to formally sign an MoU with a front line firm in partnership with the Federal mortgage bank to provide over 1000 units of the first phase of the GYB housing scheme in the State.
The Commissioner further hinted that both site locations for the scheme and the sites survey has been completed ahead of the formal MoU.
