As the World marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse recently, the Government of Kogi State wishes to express total and uncompromising determination to rid our societies of drug abuse.
In line with the theme of this year’s anniversary which tends to improve people’s knowledge and care about drugs; Government is determined to improve public enlightenment about the dangers posed by the drug menace in our society.
The Kogi State Government, through the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the Drugs Whistle-blower Policy in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
The Policy has unmasked a number of high-profile drug businesses which have been put out of circulation.
We wish to specially commend the commitment, professionalism and determination of the NDLEA, Kogi State Command to sanitize our society against the activities of drug businesses.
It is clear that Government has rightly and proactively supported all efforts at blocking the production and distribution of illegal drugs in the State, a situation that has helped our fight against criminality.
Kogites should stand with us and by us as we frontally combat drug abuse in the state because drug abuse is the root of crime. All of us must work in harmony to rid our society of the dangers of drug abuse.
Government also pledges cooperation and collaboration with the NDLEA and drug-fighting NGOs as well as other partners to achieve our noble objective of ensuring a drug free Kogi State.
