Kogi State Government has warned that the State would longer not continue to tolerate illegal mining in the State, stating that government would henceforth deal with the issue of illegal mining very seriously.

The State Commissioner of Solid minerals, Hon Mohammed Gegu disclosed this when he paid an unscheduled visit to some illegal mining sites, adding that illegally mining is causing economic sabotage to the nation economy.

He advised miners in the State to get proper documentation, adding the state Government would no longer tolerate any linkages in the nation economy, promising that the state government is every ready to cooperate with ministers, who are ready to do genuine business in the State.

He urged them to always relate with his office as he is there not only to protect their interests but that the state government is ever ready to provide a conducive environment for them to operate.

The Commissioner who went into some of the illegal holes dugged by the illegal miners, lamented the huge lost of revenue to the government by the high incidents of illegal mining.

He said the government of Gov Yahaya Bello is keen to attract investors to the State but would not tolerate illegal activities.He added that government would continue to provide the needed conducive environment for business to thrive in the State.
