The Kogi State Government has Reafaremed her Commitment to the transformation of Agriculture sector of the state.
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr David Apeh stated this at the flag up of the distribution of farm inputs to Rice farmers, initiated by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) in the state.
The Commissioner said government’s commitment was to ensure that the state becomes a leading state in food production in Nigeria.
According to him, the efforts of RIFAN in kogi state is commendable, saying that the body has laid a solid foundation, especially in Rice production.
Mr Apeh emphasized the need for the body to do more in producing paddy rice as a way of encouraging rice mills in the state, adding that the inadequacy of paddy rice accounts for the forty percent processing capacity instead of one hundred percent.
In a remark , the Managing Director of ADP , Alhaji Bello Ogirima said Governor Yahaya Bello has created the enabling environment for agriculture to thrive and enjoined farmers to reciprocate by being supportive of government policies and programmes.
Earlier , the Chairperson of RIFAN in the state , Mrs Rabi Emaiku said the flag off of the distribution of farm inputs was for the wet season .
The RIFAN Chairperson explained that rice has become an essential commodity in all homes and assured of more efforts to boost rice production in all seasons.
In another development, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr David Apeh has commended RIFAN for its commitment to duty.
Mr Apeh who gave the commendation after inspecting the ten hectare rice farm at Geregu in Ajaokuta Local Government Area said government will offer necessary support towards realizing set objectives.
