Kogi State Government has commended private Organizations and individuals for their support to curtail the spread of Corona virus in the state.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr Saka Haruna gave the commendation during the sensitization and distribution of palliative to market women in collaboration with Nestle Nigeria and the Founder of Cares Foundation in Lokoja today.
The Commissioner who was represented by the State Epidemiologist, Dr Austin Ojotule said the sensitization on Covid 19 for market women would go along way to curtail the spread of Corona virus.
Dr Saka explained that women deserve special recognition in all spheres, adding that as food vendors, market women would always prepare delicious food for human consumption therefore, there is the need to maintain good personal hygiene especially during this pandemic to curb the spread of the virus.
He noted that Kogi state remains free of Covid 19 and advised the people to always adhere strictly to precautionay measures to prevent the pandemic.
In a remark, the Founder of Cares Foundation, Hon. Bolanle Olorunsaiye said the foundation has provided two motorized borehole generator sets to some communities, awarded scholarship to five Youths at the college of education Technical Kabba and three hundred school bags were also distributed to some schools in the state.
She further stated that thirty women were trained on cosmetic using local raw materials while twenty thousand naira was provided to women who process garri to improve their businesses.
Also speaking, the guest lecturer from Kogi state Influencer for Maggi, Ohunene Etudaiye said Maggi was provided for every household and advised the women expecially food vendors to maintain cleanliness before , during and after domestic chores.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade who also spoke at the occasion commended the Foundation for the sensitization, maintaining that the state remains Covid 19 free zone.
The ceremony witnessed free distribution of Maggi cubes and other food items to the participants.
