Kogi State Government has called upon the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to come up with a very fair and equitable tariff regime.
Kogi State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon Kingsley Fanwo who stated this during a tariff review customer consultation forum, said Kogi State Government is very much concerned about the suffering an inequitable tarring regime would bring upon the people.
He called on participants to be civil and mature in their deliberations, adding that only by negotiating that a reasonable tariff plan.
He assured that Government would continue to protect the interest of the people of the State, and would do all it can to ensure that the people of Kogi State are not short-changed, especially through improve electricity supply to the people.
Earlier the Chief Operating Officer of AEDC, Engr Abdullahi Saidi Gorobe commended the State Government for increased investment in the power sector, which has enabled the Company provide improved power supply across the State.
He also commended the State.
Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for the prompt payment of bills of Ministries and Agencies of Government.
The Regional Manager, Kogi Division. Engr Mutalib Mohammed gave reasons why there should be an upward review of the tariff, stressing that the review is necessary to enhance the operation of the company, thus more supply of electricity product.
Most of the participants are of the view that rather than an upward review of tariff, there should be a downward review of the tariff, stressing that instead of tariff review, what should be talked about is the provision of adequate supply of electricity
