The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SSG), Dr. Folashade Ayoade has commended Kogi State Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for its well thought out initiative on “System Resilience Building Approach for Women Leadership (SRAWL) Project”.
She gave the commendation when she received in audience the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals and the representative of “Mercy Corps”, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) on a working visit to her office in Lokoja on Thursday.

The SSG said women constitute the bulk of Nigerians living in extreme poverty as they are usually at the backstage of “socio political, socio economic and socio cultural” activities of their respective communities.

According to the SSG, women are special beings with the capacity for multitasking thereby achieving great feats in all spheres of life, hence should be encouraged”.

She applauded the Kogi Sustainable Development Goals for partnering with Mercy Corps to build trust in women leadership in order to achieve strategic development plans for the State.

He said the choice of Mercy Corps as partners in the SRAWL project was based on their outstanding track records in most part of the world.

The Special Adviser said 30,000 women households across 1000 communities in 239 wards of the 21 LGAs of the State have been targeted to benefit from the SRAWL project.

Also Speaking, the representative of Mercy Corps, Mall Sani Suleiman appreciated the SSG for the warm reception accorded them and said that they were delighted to partner with Kogi SDG to achieve development goals.
