The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, (SSG) Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade has said that the capacity of Department of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) in the various MDAs to deliver promptly,  should be worked on,  if the State would cope with the fast changing world.

She stated this at the opening of a 2-Day In-House Training with the theme” the Roles and Relevance of Planning Research and Statistics in Public Service Matters for Effective and Efficient Management” for staff of PRS at the SSG`s Conference Hall in Lokoja.

The SSG who was represented at the function by the Permanent Secretary Administration and Special Duties, Alhaji Labaran Idris Idakwoji said the In-House training was borne out of the desire to strengthen the capacity of PRS staff to meet-up with the roles and objectives of governance.

According to Dr. Folashade, “for government to be able to deliver on its programmes adequately, the PRS personnel need to pop up its roles effectively and scientifically to enable Government formulate and implement policies”.

She challenged the staff to take responsibility and key into the training as she looks forward to a more improved, effective and efficient service delivery.

Speaking earlier, the coordinator of the training, Levi Ocheni expressed confidence that the participants will be availed latest techniques in PRS.

He said the participants will be groomed on some carefully selected topics such as Statistical Planning, Research in Planning, Budget & Budgetary Processes, and Planning for the Sector.

Others include Practical Approach to Procurement, Project Management, and How to Write a Good Plan in 10 Steps.
