Kogi State Government has restated her determination to ensure the optimal ultilisation of the services of Veterinary Doctors in the State in the overall good of the Kogi society.
Kogi State Commissioner of Agriculture disclosed this when he received in audience members of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Kogi State Chapter in his office.
The Commissioner stressed that the importance of the services of the Veterinary Doctors can not be overemphasized.
He pointed out the significant roles played by the Veterinary Doctors in relation to the recent happening at Felele, in the State where about eleven (11) cows died mysteriously.
Mr Apeh noted that if not for the prompt action of the Veterinary Doctors in the Ministry that quickly went round sensitizing the people of the State especially butcher centers and other places where meat business is a daily activity for them, in other to curb the epidemic to make sure there was no serious outbreak of an epidemic as a result of the death of the animals.
He added that as result of the importance given to the profession by the State Government, 26 Veterinary Doctors where recently recruited by the Government to stem the dire of Veterinary Doctors in the State service.
The Commissioner assured them that he is looking forward to work with them the best way possible and that his doors are always open to hear from them.
The President of Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Dr Hamza Benjamin expressed association’s readiness to work with the Ministry in their usual ways like they have always been doing in the time past.
He called for the Ministry’s support to synergize in the areas that concerns the Veterinary Doctors for the Ministry to be able to achieve its desired result
He also emphasized on the partnership with the Ministry in the area of live stocks on how they have had a very fruitful collaboration with the Ministry in the time past.
