The honourable Commissioner, Ministry Of Transport Mr Joseph Okwoli has said Kogi is set to experience a robust transformation in water transportation sector like never before.
The Commissioner made the statement in an interactive session with the management and staff of the ministry at a maiden meeting held in his office.
Okwoli said 9 out of the 21 local government areas in coastal areas of the state will have cause to smile as water transportation will be brought to their doorsteps.
This he said will help their businesses, create job opportunities, boost economic activities,and in turn,generate more revenues for the state as well as attract tourists and investors.
The commissioner who expressed dissatisfaction with the state of water transportation said,the safest means of transportation which is water transportation has been abandoned in kogi state due to obsolete vessels.
He said the vessels will be rescucitated to get the sector working again.
He said water transportation remains the safest and cheapest means of conveying people and goods from one place to another adding that, it must not go into extinction.
He called on the good people of Kogi State to be ready for the transformation which is set to kick start in water transportation.
