Kogi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs played Host to the management team of the State Local Government Service Commission in the bid to mashar out robust strategies for the actualization of Government policies in the sector
The team which was led by the Commission’s chairman, Professor Ibrahim Shaibu early congratulated the Commissioner for his well-deserved appointment and seek for synergy on how best they can jointly move the local council areas forward in the overall interest of the state.
Highlights of the discussion were:
Intimating the Hon. Commissioner on the responsibilities/function of the commission as contained in the law that established the Commission.
Presentation of a copy of the law to the Hon. Commissioner.
Expression of complaints on the non implementation of the promotion/elevation of the staff of the Local Government Areas across the state.
Emphasis on the need for the production of a unified identity cards for the staff of the 21 Local government area councils of the state.
Dissipated release of 1% statutory allocation to the commission.
The Commissioner Barr Salami Momodu Ozigi(Deedat) in his response appreciated the good will messages and the congratulatory visit. He assured them of his willingness to operate with open policy, allow every synergy needed to take the Local Government affairs to its next level of development with staff welfarism being placed prioritised.
He also applauded the presentation of the Commission’s law and promised to get himself acquainted with it.
Consequently, the Commissioner promised to ensure timely release of any statutory benefit to the commission going forward.
