In Recognition of his immense contributions to the development of Otafun Amuro Community in Mopamuro local Government Area of Kogi State, the Hon Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of the Obatunluse Of Otafun-Amuro Land.

Conffering the title on the Information and Communications Commissioner, the community’s Traditional Council said they are proud of the good works of Fanwo as an illustrious son of the community and for attracting laudable developmental projects to the area and for facilitating notable appointment for their sons and daughters.

Earlier in his address the representative of Governor Yahaya Bello, the Honorable Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Asiwaju Idris Asiru said that Hon Kingsley Fanwo is a beloved son and loyalist of Governor Bello Who often leverage on his relationship with the Governor to attract development to his people, Yagba communities and the entire Okun nation.

He noted with delight that agriculture, which is the mainstay of the people in the area is receiving deep and accelerated attention from the Governor of the state. He said the efforts will stimulate economic growth at the rural areas, adding that he is not surprised that the efforts of the Commissioner toward the development of the community are being recognized and appreciated by the community.

While conducting the traditional rites of the conferment of the Obatunluse of Otafun-Amuro on Hon Kingsley Fanwo and his lovely wife, the Alafin of Otafun-Amuro, Chief Kayode Atteh stated that the Community is fully aware and have come to appreciate the developmental strides of their son, Kingsley Fanwo and they are gladly appreciating him with the title. He emphasized that Fanwo has done them proud and they are happy to honour him.

In his acceptance speech, Hon Kingsley Fanwo expressed his appreciation by assuring the community that their traditional stool would soon be graded with the support given to Governor Yahaya Bello during the last election.


He said the community should continue to support the Government, stating that anyone who is against the party in power doesn’t love his or her people.


“I want to thank the good people of Otafun Amuro for supporting the reelection bid of the Governor. It gives me the mandate to lobby the development-oriented Governor for more projects. Anyone who is not supporting the party in power is not doing any favor to his or her community.


“The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Takete Ide/Otafun has met and resolved that the next Councillor of the Ward will come from Otafun. We follow GYB and must therefore exhibit his spirit of fairness”.


The ceremony was attended by Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, other top Government functionaries as well as party stalwarts and community leaders.
