Kogi Government To Synergies With Traditional Rulers

The new Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Momodu Ozigi has declared that he would continue to synergize with traditional rulers in the State for accelerated development.

Barr. Ozigi who paid familiarization visit to the Attah of Igala, HRM Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II and the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, HRM Ado Ibrahim in their palaces at Idah and Okene respectively said traditional rulers have vital roles to play in promoting peace at the grassroots.

The Commissioner said Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello places high priority on peace and security adding that the Governor also has high regard for the traditional institution.

He said when traditional rulers work hand in hand with the state government, it would go a very long in sustaining the already existing peace in the state.

Barr. Ozigi thanked the two traditional rulers for supporting the Governor in the last election, assuring them that government would continue to accord the welfare of traditional rulers top priority.

The Commissioner also said hierarchy must be respected in the state traditional institution; stating that lower chiefs should not rush to the ministry for official matters without the endorsement of the senior paramount ruler in their domain.

He thanked the paramount rulers for receiving him and his entourage in their palaces; soliciting for their prayers towards the success of the Yahaya Bello-led administration.

In his response, the Attah Igala and President of Kogi State Traditional Council, HRM Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II thanked the Commissioner for the visit, promising the State Government of the continual support of the royal institution in the State.

He thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for appointing Barr. Ozigi whom he described as a great son of Kogi State as a Commissioner; while also urging Bar. Ozigi to use his wealth of experience to move the state forward.

HRM Ado Ibrahim who recalled how he had rendered reasonable services to the country, promised to do more for the state whenever called upon.

The Ohinoyi of Ebira said Ebira people are known for peace.He admonished the Commissioner to carry out his job with diligence.

Also, Speaking, the state ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Taofiq Isah thanked the two paramount rulers for their support on the return of Governor Yahaya Bello for a second term in office.

He assured them of the loyalty of the twenty one Local Government Administrators to the traditional institution, stressing that the Administrators would continue to appreciate the fatherly role and promotion of peace of the royal fathers.
