Kogi State Government has restated her commitment to bringing governance to the door step of the people of the State by running an open door administration through the Open Governance and Accountability System(KOGAS).
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo disclosed this at the Kogi Radio Booster Station Okeneba, Okene Local Government Area, where he led Top management staff of the State Ministry of Information and Communication on Facility Tour of the Radio Station.
The Commissioner, who disclosed that the Open Governance and Accountability System KOGAS is a novel initiative by Governor Yahaya Bello administration, said it is the very first of its kind in Nigeria.
According to him, the system was designed and being deployed by the State Ministry of Information and Communication to create a platform of engagement between the government and the people.
He added that the system would be domiciled in the New Media department of the Ministry, and would be geared towards creating a direct interface with the people where citizens can ask questions about government programs, policies and activities.
He also emphasized that even those without internet facilities would be able to engage government officials and political office holders via a code which would be generated by network service provider to bring governance to the door step of the people.
Hon Fanwo noted with delight that Governor Bello stands out as the first Governor to introduce the open Governance system in the history of the country and that the system is going to make political office holders to be on top of their jobs as questions raised on the KOGAS Platform must be addressed within 24hours.
The Commissioner who decried the poor power condition at the Radio Station, pledged Government readiness to urgently addressed the situation.
He promised that his ministry and management of Radio Kogi would work with the Local Government Council Areas in the area to address the accommodation problem confronting the station alongside other noticeable challenges, stressing that the staff need to be well motivated for optimal productivity.
