Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been commended for taken proactive steps that has turned around the agricultural sector of the State.
The Principal College of Agriculture Ochaja, Mr Tijani Michael, who made the commendation in Lokoja during a congratulatory visit to the new Commissioner of Agriculture, lauded Governor Yahaya Bello on the appointment of Hon. David Apeh as the Commissioner.
He disclosed that the present administration under Alhaji Yahaya Bello is active and well-motivated and has the State to a revolutionized agrarian state.
He noted that the Ministry at this point in time needs the service of a proactive Commissioner like Hon. David Apeh who out of wealth of experience has impacted his generation.
Earlier, the Principal disclosed that the institute is currently running courses like crop production Technology, Farm management and Extension, Animal health and husbandry and others valuable courses that could make Kogi State the food centre of the nation.
He stressed that the Institution be upgraded to a Diploma awarding Institution as college of Agriculture.
Responding, Hon. David Apeh commended them on the visit and promised that their request will be forwarded to the Governor for appropriate measure.
Apeh used the medium to thank His Excellency Yahaya Bello for considering him worthy for this noble assignment and assured the State Government of his dedication and commitment to service.
In a related event, Stakeholders in Agricultural sector has been assured of Government support for the growth of agriculture in the State.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr David Apeh gave the assurance when he received members of Kogi State chapter of Nigeria Commercial Farmers Association in Lokoja.
The commissioner said the ministry is ready to partner with all stakeholders in order to have good production in all sector, while assuring that all hands must be on desk for better productivity, stressing that the issue of land clearing would be attended to.
In his remarks the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi commend the Association for the visit and assured that Anco-borrower program would be sustained.
According to him, every government policy on agriculture would be properly supervised, and whatever is meant for stakeholders in agriculture would be equitably distributed.
Earlier the State Coordinator of Nigeria Commercial Farmers Association, Mr Gedi David said they were in the Commissioner`s office to congratulate him on his well deserved appointment and to intimate him on the existence of the association.
Mr Gedi called for understanding between the two body and enumerated some of their challenges to include lack of tractor, farming input, land clearing and bank challenges among others.
