Kogi State Ministry of Culture and Tourism will treat the people of the state to a keep-fit walk on the 14 of February; this year’s St. Valentine’s day.
The Valentine walk scheduled to start at 7 O’clock in the morning from the base of Mt. Patti will be flagged off by the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Comrade Isah Idachaba disclosed this earlier in the day when he visited the Ministry of Information and Communications to create awareness and seek synergy for the programmes ahead of his ministry.
Idachaba said public office holders and members of the general public who wish to participate in the exercise will climb the hill up to their desired level.
He also explained that the walk would set off series of activities to rejig the ministry of Culture and Tourism towards a legacy of better service delivery in the state.
He sought collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communications; saying the two ministries should form a technical committee to work out modalities of tapping state treasures lying fallow for economic development of the state.
Responding, the Commissioner of Information and Communications represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Sylvania Akpama described tourism as a major driver of economic development.
He promised that his ministry would deploy available reasouces to promote tourism in the state.
The State Director for Culture, Alhaji Tanko Inuwa commended the State Government for upgrading the Ministry of Information and Communication to its present status and for deploying a capable hand, Evang. Kingsley Fanwo to manage it.
He congratulated Fanwo on his new appointment, wishing him success in his present mandate.
