The Kogi State Government has established a State Reference Molecular laboratory as part of its response to the ravaging corona virus pandemic.
The State Commissioner for Health and Secretary, Kogi State Squadron committee on COVID-19, Dr Saka Haruna who disclosed this in a statement, said the molecular laboratory which is within the premises of the state specialist hospital, Lokoja was established in collaboration with Centre for Disease Control America.
Dr Haruna said the State Government has also transformed the former FAREC Clinic in Lokoja to Confluence Centre for Infectious Disease (CCID), adding that the centre was an independent state project
The Commissioner said with the establishment of the two projects, Kogites and Residents with COVID-19 related symptoms can now access evaluation and treatments without hindrances.
Dr Haruna said relevant manpower from within and outside the State have already been deployed to man the Centres.
