Following the directive of the executive governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello that the high ways of Lokoja be decongested, the commissioner For Transport, Honourable Joseph Okwoli has said, movement of all vehicles to the Terminus Mega Park will take effect on march 1st 2020.
The commissioner revealed this in a meeting with The Nigerian Union of Road Transport workers (NURTW),Nigeria Association of Commercial Commuters, (NACC) and other relevant stakeholders in the state
Okwoli said the meeting with the NURTW became neccesary because of the urgent need to synergize and collaborate with the ministry to implement the matching order as handed down by the governor.
From this date, he said any one caught flaunting traffic rules will be punished alongside those without registered plate numbers.
He said sensitization and awareness will begin on various media for people to be aware of the Ministry’s move to move all vehicles from Nataco axis to the Terminus Mega Park.
Okwoli said The ministry is ready to implement the policy of decongesting the state capital of indiscrimanate parkings of vehicles on the high ways to ensure sanity in the state.
The Management of the NURTW however gave their support and expressed readiness to synergize with the Ministry of Transport to achieve the desired gaols.
He called on the NURTW to sensitize their members on the ministry’s intentions so they will not be taken unawares.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the NURTW for their readiness and expressed optimism that the efforts will yield positive results.
Meanwhile,the director transport services, Paul Ocheja said the Mega Park Has the capacity to accommodate not less than 200 buses
With other structures put in place to ease accommodation of vehicles and other commercial activities.
The Terminus Mega Park is situated along Felele- express road,Lokoja.
