The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Hon. Abubakar Bashiru Muhammed has described the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company as a catalyst for growth and industrial revolution of the country.
The Commissioner stated this in Ajaokuta when the Minister of Mine and Solid Minerals Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite with the members of the Senate committee on Solid Minerals visited the company for on the spot assessment of the facilities.
Hon. Abubakar who is a member of APPIT said that the Ajaokuta Steel Company if fully operational would lead to the economic growth of the country, noting that government would no longer be dependent on crude oil as the main source of revenue generation.
The commissioner who thanked President Muhammed Buhari for his efforts towards the resuscitation of the project said the project would reduce the level of unemployment and crimes in the state.
The Ajaokuta Presidential Project Implementation Team ( APPIT) was inaugurated to help in revamping the company inline with the Agreement with the Russian Authority.
According to Federal Government, the APPIT would start the process of redirecting the activities of the steel plant in order to bring the project back to life for the growth and economic development of the country.
In addition, the team would also engaged in bilateral negotiations on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria leading to the execution of the government to government agreement with Russian Federation and Afreximbank.
The Presidential Project Implementation Team has the commissioners of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources,Hon. Abubakar Bashiru Mohammed and Finance, Budget and Planning, Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris as members from Kogi State.
