The Bureau of Lands and Urban Development in conjunction with Kogi State Internal Revenue Service holds an in-house training for about eighty participants through the Kogi State Geographic Information System (KOGIS) on Property Identification and Enumeration(PIE) for a span of 4-days.
According to the Facilitator of the training from SMBI, Mr. Wale Ajayi stated that the program is geared towards capacity building of the participants on; quality data collection, identification, and creation of a unique and centralized system to generating useful statistical information that will enhance physical and social development of the State.
He further added that with this system fully operationalized, it will enable government improve considerably in planning, analysing and strategizing towards solving all cardinal problems that affect the affairs of the State which will automatically make a pathway for informed decision making, Maximizing resources, revenue generation and checkmating insecurity which will lead to improved standard of living of the State.
The training program which is primarily centred on proper usage of Geographical Information System (GIS) as a tool to generate data on City Profiling, Property Identification, and House Enumeration will expose the participants to accurate collection and capturing of relevant data as seamless as possible.
According to the Facilitator, the KOGIS platform which is originally set up to serve as a database will automatically serve as a reservoir for all Ministries and Parastatals to bank on for accurate data which will enhance the analysis of statistical information that will guide the decision-making process in all sectors of the State.
